Powder Metallurgy

Molybdenum disulfide is a high-performance solid lubricant and functional additive in the field of powder metallurgy. When manufacturing key components such as engine valve guides and valve seat rings, uniformly mixing molybdenum disulfide powder with metal matrix powder can significantly improve the powder's pressing fluidity and form a self-lubricating network in the sintered components. This not only significantly reduces the coefficient of friction, enhances the wear resistance and heat resistance of components, but also effectively prevents seizing under high-temperature and high-speed working conditions, thereby ensuring the long-term stable and silent operation of the engine valve train system and significantly extending its service life.

During the operation of an engine, the valve seat ring is subjected to the thermally mechanical coupling load caused by high temperature and high pressure. Therefore, its sealing material is required to have excellent wear resistance, impact resistance, self-lubrication and outstanding machinability. Studies show that the appropriate addition of molybdenum disulfide can effectively improve the machinability of valve seat ring materials.
